While selecting my images I included the pieces that I felt I had incorporated part of myself within them as well as showing off my talents as an up and coming graphic designer. As I am applying to a graphics design course I felt it necessary to include majority graphic based work but I also felt that including some other work such as mixed media and photography would help show my versatility and my desire to work within other medias under the Graphic design umbrella. I feel the pieces are all aesthetically pleasing as well as being diverse and that they work well when I apply them to the appropriate medium. When designing pieces I like to inject fun into my artwork when appropriate and I felt it important to show pieces that have a sense of humor to them as well as pieces that have a sense of decorum applied to them.

I myself am a hardworking and determined young man and I feel that my talent is very much within the Graphic design field but I feel that along with my formal art training and educational background that I would not be able to produce the work I do with my life experiences especially within local Drama and Youth work. These aspects of my life taught me how to a more fun person, a more confidant and reliable individual and have given me many opportunities to shine while also being able to incorporate my graphic design skills.

The reason I have applied to do Graphic design in Manchester Metropolitan is because in my opinion is has the right balance of being a well respected art college as well as being part of a culture that is diverse and will give me the opportunity to lead a much more artistic lifestyle. I want to be able to grow as a person and I feel that I will be able to accomplish this in Manchester as well as being able to learn much more about graphic design and the industry that I will apply my talents too. As well as that I feel that a university that has alumni such as Peter Saville, Malcolm Garret, Martin Parr & Steve Coogan is definatley somewhere I want to spend my student days in.
